Description:
The Benevolent Irish Society was established in 1825. Commonly known for it’s abbreviation “BIS” is one of the older organizations on Prince Edward Island. The location of the society is on North River Rd, Charlottetown. Established originally to meet the needs of Irish immigrants and the poor of all denominations. Nowadays the Society places increasing emphasis on preserving and promoting Irish history, culture, and heritage, and in particular its Gaelic, Celtic traditions.

A main hall which in normal times seats 150. In Covid times it seats 65
The main hall has 2 washrooms, a bar, a small kitchen (not a commercial kitchen), a stage with lights and a sound system.
Accessible for wheelchairs on all 3 levels. Heat pumps are used for AC in the main hall.
Downstairs has 2 meeting rooms that can accommodate 20 – 25 people in normal times. In Covid times they accommodate 10.
The downstairs area has 1 washroom.
A 1700+ book library on the lower level open to the public.
